Today our amazing party members were on #labourdoorstep in Whitechapel, Wapping & St. Katherine’s & Bromley South for @SadiqKhan & @unmeshdesai Residents were pleased to see @TH_Labour Cllrs & members out speaking about local issues. Btw- 5% Council Tax increase was mentioned.

Thanks to new Director of Neighbourhoods Beverley Greenidge for joining me on an inspection of St Stephens estate + Annie Besant Close yesterday. Lots of issues to resolve, so its great to have someone who has dedicated their career to serving Tower Hamlets residents in this role

This mural by @AliAerosol, created in 2021, was dedicated to celebrating the vibrant culture of the Bangladeshi community. it has unfortunately fallen into neglect and has been vandalized with graffiti.Can @TowerHamletsNow take measures to preserve and these invaluable street art

Under a new licence agreement with Tower Hamlets Council, All Points East organisers could nearly double events in Victoria Park from 10 to 19 days per year.

Important meeting later with Chief Executive of Tower Hamlets Council. Will be asking for an explanation how Mayor + officers have come to put forward an action plan to address the governance failings identified by LGA Peer Review without even speaking to the 21 Opposition cllrs

At tonight's O&S committee, we will be questioning the Lead Member on the Mayor's last minute changes to next year's Budget. It isn't easy to get a straight answer these days, but will definitely be asking about this extra 2.99% increase in Council Tax + what its being spent... on🧐

Thanks to @RomanRoadLDN's @ImogenGarfinkel for picking up on our concerns about Mayor Lutfur Rahman's 5% hike in Council Tax from April and proposed total increase of at least 17% over his term of office. The pretence only wealthy millionaires will pay this increase is nonsense

Another 23 constituents in our advice surgery today. Half those were Clarion Housing Group tenants, struggling to get serious disrepairs sorted out. Really not sure what more evidence of systemic failings @michaelgove + @RSHEngland need before intervening.
